Seeking an Individualized Homeshare Provider

This is an opportunity for you to welcome an adult with a developmental disability into your home where you create an inclusive environment and build a meaningful long-lasting connection with this individual. The Home Share Provider will support this person to live a life that is meaningful to them; with rights, capacity and skill building, community connections and genuine relationships

The Home Share Provider that would be a good fit for this particular opportunity will:

  • Have a well-maintained home that allows the individual to have their own bedroom, private bathroom and space for activities.
  • Have willingness to engage in recreational activities with the individual and activities that promote the ongoing learning of life skills
  • Have an ability to transition between support and mentorship roles for the individual based on the needs at the time
  • Be willing to support the individual with respect for the person's culture and community, including engaging and working collaboratively with person's family and social network.
  • Be committed to supporting and empowering the individuals by respecting their rights, choices and decision making
  • Be willing to include the person within their family and social network
  • Have regular access to a vehicle and close proximity to bus routes
  • Have strong communication skills and command of the English language
  • Ideally live in the South-end of Winnipeg (open to possible locales)

St. Amant, as part of an initiative entitled “Meaningful Connections”, seeks to expand the culture of support (“excellent caretaking”) to include an intentional focus on equipping a person with the opportunities and skills to develop relationships. The goal of this initiative is to have people we support exploring and establishing relationships with people in the community.
