Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives & Engagement and consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and policies of St.Amant, the Senior Manager, Staff Development & Engagement is a critical role in ensuring the success of St.Amant business and operations in relation to the Strategic Plan.
Exemplifying the mission, vision and values of St.Amant, the Senior Manager works collaboratively with partnered programs while offering employees respectful customer service. The Senior Manager implements and oversees programs that increase efficiency, strengthen employee knowledge and abilities, improve leadership, create connections, and maintain the overall health and development of the organization. They ensure the effective and efficient operation of Administrative Support Services, Corporate Education, French Language Services, and Volunteer Services, in alignment with the priorities and objectives of the organization. In addition, they are a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Co-Lead with responsibilities related to designing and supporting relevant initiatives across the organization, in partnership with others. Qualifications
Educational:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree required in related business or social science; Master’s degree preferred
- Certification in change management, volunteer management, and/or adult education is an asset
Professional:
- Minimum of five years of previous management experience, ideally in a non-profit environment
- Minimum of five years of recent related experience in the area of organizational development, including experience in program development and implementation
- Demonstrated competency in managing change initiatives
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, project management, and group facilitation
- Ability to conceptualize and implement innovative and efficient staff and volunteer development programs in response to identified needs
- Experience designing and implementing initiatives that promote and celebrate DEIA
- Knowledge of current training techniques and program planning
- Knowledge of volunteer management principles
- Experience in writing recommendations and proposals
- Strong understanding and skills in human resource management principles, practices, and procedures
- Experience in interpreting and applying legislation and policies
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Ability to relate to and communicate with diverse groups of people across all levels of the organization
- Ability to research, analyze, and conceptualize long-term systemic needs on an organizational basis
- Ability to supervise, delegate to and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is an asset
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities
Program/Service Support:
Consistent with the Strategic Direction and Policies of St.Amant, the Senior Manager, Staff Development & Engagement, provides leadership, consultation, and support to meet needs across the organization pertaining to staff and volunteer development, growth, and belonging. Quality services are evident when professional communication, timeliness, accuracy, ethical awareness/sensitivity, and confidentiality are consistently demonstrated as required by legislation and program/service standards.
Duties include:
- Provide leadership, management, and support to Administrative Support Services, Corporate Education, French Language Services, and Volunteer Services
- Ensure compliance with mandatory and recommended training and initiatives for staff and volunteers
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Co-Leads are leaders and champions for DEIA at all levels within the organization., In partnership with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Engagement, Co-Leads are responsible for fostering an inclusive, equitable and accessible workplace where all employees feel respected and valued. Key responsibilities for the Senior Manager Co-Lead include:
- Lead the creation and implementation of St.Amant’s accessibility plan in alignment with the Accessibility for Manitobans Act
- Work collaboratively with leadership, employees, and external partners to promote DEIA initiatives and enhance the organization’s reputation as an inclusive and accessible employer.
- Lead efforts to create an environment where all employees feel they belong, encouraging employee resource groups (ERGs), offering relevant professional development opportunities, and promoting diversity in decision-making.
- Develop and implement organizational strategies, policies, and programs that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across the organization
- Work with senior leaders to diagnose gaps in skills or resources and set objectives, then develop or secure initiatives and programs to meet those goals or unmet needs
- Provide recommendations and support related to the development and implementation of change management initiatives
- Ensure leaders are informed of initiatives available to them and their employees
- Provide resources/support for leaders and other employees that facilitate groups, train employees and/or make presentations as part of their responsibilities
- Develop, implement, or provide feedback on relevant policies and procedures
- Chairs and/or participates in committees and teams as directed
- Ensure training and educational material meet corporate goals and objectives, branding, language, and legislative requirements
- Research and develop information or proposals required for projects and initiatives
- Maintain partnerships with external partners
- Develop and maintain strategy and partnerships related to the Beyond Limits conference to ensure growth and longevity of the conference
- Ensures positions and initiatives related to volunteers/volunteerism are aligned with organizational strategy, values, and culture
- Lead and/or participate in corporate initiatives, priorities, and projects to ensure strategic plans, corporate objectives, and program plans are implemented
- Facilitate annual program/service area planning days in collaboration with the Project Management Office
- Support processes, collaboration, and information sharing among Committees and Employee Resource Groups
- Support biannual coordination of Employee Engagement and Racial Climate surveys
- Facilitate training and/or leads presentations to various groups
- Support planning for Town Hall and Leaders Group meetings
- Promote the interests of French Language Services in a Designated Bilingual facility
- Promote a strong customer service focus in all interactions
